September 23, 2017 — Dr. Daniel Johnson, Director of ECHO-Chicago, joined 2800 participants at the German Congress for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine in Cologne, Germany. Dr. Johnson provided an overview of the ECHO-Chicago project sharing information on the success and approach of ECHO-Chicago and its impact on delivery of healthcare in Chicago. October 11, 2017 — AllianceChicago held its Biannual Research Symposium in Chicago. Attendees from ECHO-Chicago participated in the symposium discussions around the role of research in informing policy, collaborating with community partners to identify strategies for conducting research, and determining next steps for development of future research initiatives, among other topics.
October 20-24, 2017 — The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) held its annual Liver Meeting 2017 in Washington, DC. “Improving Primary Care Training for the Evaluation and Therapy of Hepatitis C in the Community-based Test and Cure of Hepatitis C Program” was co-presented by Andrew Aronsohn, MD, Hepatitis C Subject Matter Expert for ECHO-Chicago, and colleagues from other CDC supported community-based initiatives to improve testing and care of HCV-infected patients.

As the third HCV Case Management & Clinic Capacity Building series comes to an end, we are pleased to share some thoughts from one of our partner sites.
“Thanks to the training, tools and support from Project ECHO, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center has launched a Hepatitis C treatment program in our FQHC that includes testing, linkage to care and pharmacy support. We had our first successful treatment completion early this fall, and the program is growing exponentially.
