Our Mission

ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. ALF Connecticut provides a wide variety of these services including information and referral, education programs, support groups, exciting fundraising events, and an array of volunteer opportunities.

Support groups provide a place for individuals affected by a similar condition or circumstance to provide and receive support and share their experiences.

Not all support groups are facilitated by a medical professional. Some support groups are facilitated by 3rd party organizations and individuals in this region.

This is a confidential, public support group for diagnosed, family, friends, interested individuals and those with other liver maladies.

Anonymously visit to experience periodic educational segments (with professional speakers from various fields), to talk to those afflicted (some considering treatment, some on treatment, and some finished treatment) and family/ friends/ supporters or to just hear what these diseases are all about.

The Hartford Hospital Transplant Program provides support group opportunities for people who have had transplants of any organs, and for those who are waiting for transplants. Meetings are held five times each year from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Certain meetings include an educational presentation, while others are for people to meet and connect with shared experiences.

The meetings are held in Hartford Hospital’s Special Dining Room.
