CDC Issues Health Alert for Hepatitis A Outbreak
The Center for Disease Control recently issued a Health Action Alert for an ongoing Hepatitis A outbreak that is occurring in multiple states. While primarily confined to the midwest, including Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and West Virginia, cases have also been reported in Utah and California. Unlike recent food-related outbreaks that have made the news in the last year, a majority of patients in the latest surge are reported to be drug users, homeless, or both.
