ALF Statement on 1st Annual International NASH Day
The American Liver Foundation is proud to support the 1st International NASH Day on June 12th, which represents an important step toward raising awareness for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). There are more than 100 different liver diseases that affect millions of Americans, however NASH is poised to become the leading cause of liver transplantation by 2030. It’s a “silent killer” that most people are unaware they have, since NASH patients are generally symptom free until the late stages of the disease. The ALF is dedicated to providing the public with access to NASH education and connecting diagnosed patients with medical research, and applauds those involved in this awareness effort.
