The American Liver Foundation Great Lakes Division is delighted to honor Dr. Mary (Maru) Rinella, Professor of Medicine, Northwestern University. Dr. Rinella has provided leadership and expertise to the Great Lakes Division for several years, as Past President and Member of our Medical Advisory Committee. In fact she served as Medical Advisory Committee Chair well beyond the traditional 2-year term despite her intense schedule at Northwestern. In addition to presenting at a multitude of our educational programs, she helped create even greater exposure of our mission by bringing the Academic Debates to the attention of the AASLD (American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases). Subsequently, they have replicated this program which is an exceptional tribute to our hard work.
Dr. Rinella is a passionate patient advocate. She is admired and respected by her peers and community. Not only for her accomplishments in liver disease but also for her culinary expertise which she shared with us during past Flavors of Chicago events. Words cannot express our gratitude for her enthusiasm, dedication and support.
