Lorraine lgMeet the American Liver Foundation’s New CEO, Lorraine Stiehl

It is both an honor and a privilege to be able to serve all of you in our liver community. After three decades of working with health non-profits, academic medical institutions and advocacy groups, I am humbled to be asked to lead the American Liver Foundation (ALF). I look forward to working with all of you.

For much of my professional life, I’ve been focused on helping to solve the twin public health challenges of type 2 diabetes and obesity, as well as the challenges involving autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes. Since type 2 diabetes is often driving non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and NASH – plus a growing area of liver disease involves autoimmunity, I feel at home in the liver space. Let’s break down the silos that exist between organs and their related diseases – and create greater synergistic partnerships, all for the benefit of patients.
