Autoimmune Hepatitis
On September 1st 2011, I woke up severely jaundiced, nauseous and weak. A trip to the emergency room revealed that I was in fulminant liver failure.
After 2 years of testing, it was determined that I had autoimmune hepatitis. The disease had gone and diagnosed and untreated for 30 + years. I was put on the transplant list May 4th 2014. The next 4 years was a horrendous struggle. Battling esophageal varices, hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, several more episodes of failure both liver and kidneys.
On February 9th, 2018, I received the call that changed my life period a donor was found and I was rushed to Ohio State University for transplant. 4 months later, I am doing amazingly well. I work out everyday and I now have the energy to play with my grandchild.
I am thankful, grateful, and blessed for the family who made the ultimate decision to donate their loved ones organs. Thank you from the bottom of my 3 children’s and my 3 grandchildren’s hearts.
