Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis with Portal Hypertension
I am a 21 year old Division 1 collegiate volleyball player at the University of California, Berkeley and I was diagnosed with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis with Portal Hypertension at the age of 19. I received a liver transplant in order to fix the disease all together. I received the transplant May 17th, 2016. I started playing volleyball again just 3 months after surgery and am happily still at school playing volleyball.
Advice that I have is that make sure you are surrounded by support. Be around things that make you happy even in those rough times. I also would advise that you make sure you do thorough research and be well educated on what you are battling. I also recommend doing activities that keep your mind off of the negative and bring you into a positive light. Positive mindsets will get you through anything.
